First Holy Communion

Dear First Holy Communion Parents,

This year is a very special time for you and your child who will be receiving the sacraments of First Penance and First Communion. Because of the importance of the Sacraments and because we want our children to share that appreciation, we require two years of religion classes for first reception of the sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist.Home school families are asked to contact the Director of Religious Education, Katie Wilson at the beginning of the school year if your children will be receiving the sacraments. Before the day arrives for the reception of these sacraments there is a lot to be done in terms of preparation. You as parents have the responsibility to help your child prepare for the sacraments. The parents are the primary catechists and have an irreplaceable role in your children’s faith. It is important you are showing the importance of going to Mass weekly, receiving the Sacraments frequently, and reinforcing Religious education at home. Together as a community, we are here to serve the needs of the parish and to cooperate with the teachings of the Church. The catechists are here to work with you and help guide you through this time. Please, note that if a child is showing a pattern of absences, this will be a cause for concern and will be addressed.
