St. Charles is a tithing community and has established a tithing committee to review applications for tithing funds. The mission of the tithing committee of St. Charles Borromeo Church is to act as honest, concerned, and prayerful stewards of the free-will offerings of our parishioners. We will allocate the tithing funds of our parish to the best of our ability, looking for those places that will have the greatest and longest lasting benefit, always keeping with the Church’s teaching that we must work for justice and that we must give a preferential option to the poor and vulnerable.
Guidelines: The tithing funds from St. Charles will be used to support organizations involved in charity (direct service), education, advocacy, community organizing or evangelization and can include programs that address local and global needs. Due to increased demand for funding, and limitations in meeting all requests through weekly tithing, St. Charles has implemented this application process for considering requests. Organizations that have some connection or tie to St. Charles will be given priority consideration.
Applications for tithes must be submitted using the “St. Charles Application for Tithing Funds” form (Word document) and will be accepted on a rolling basis with two deadlines for consideration by the Committee: received by March 31 and September 30 of each year. Applicants may submit only one application per year.
Your application should not exceed three pages, including the cover page. The application may be submitted electronically to: tithing@stcharleschurch.org, or via post mail to: Tithing Committee, St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3304 North Washington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201. Please send five copies plus the original if sending by post mail.
Applications received after the March 31st or September 30th deadline will be held until the next deadline.
