| LITURGIES | ||
| Liturgy Planning/Writing | Liturgy planners prepare outlines (scripts) describing the detailed actions which occur at Eucharistic celebrations for Sundays, Holy Days and Special Events. The outline contains the cantor's welcome, the Call to Worship, opening prayer, special collections, music selections, Prayers of the Faithful, RCIA events and other specific rites that are planned for each Mass. | ROLES | ||
| Altar Servers | The altar serving ministry is for boys and girls who are 8 years old or older, have made their first communion, and would like to serve the St. Charles community at various Masses. Servers must go through training and must be able to handle being on the altar, such as standing when the congregation stands, remembering what to do and when to do it, etc. Some duties include: helping the priest before, during and after the celebration of the Holy Mass; and assisting the Sacristan, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and Lectors before and after Mass if needed. |

| Eucharistic Ministers |
Eucharistic Ministers, or Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, assist with the Communion Rite at Sunday Masses, daily Masses, and Holy Days, share the Eucharist with the homebound, and provide Communion outside the Mass services at two retirement centers, Brighton Gardens and The Jefferson. Parishioners interested in serving as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are required to receive a mandate from the Office of Sacred Liturgy and attend Diocesan-sponsored training, usually held in April or May.
