Prayers and Cookies for Kairos
A prison ministry in "God's Time."
Linda Cirillo and Jean Sweeney (jeansween@erols.com) will be joining teams with other Christian churches to enter Virginia's Goochland Penitentiary November 2 to 5, 2000 for a weekend of building a community in Christ through talks and sharing. It is a healing and convesrion time for many.
We bring 150 dozen homemade cookies, baked with your love and prayers. They become signs of God's unconditional love. The inmates are challenged to bring cookies back to others on their halls, to officers, and to others who are hard to love or forgive. The stories they tell of "loving their enemy" are powerful.
You Can Help:
- By baking cookies
2.5 inches round (to ensure fairness)
They must be plain: no raisins; no sugar toppings; no M&Ms or candy; no icing toppings (or we can't take them into the prison)
Chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and nuts okay
Bake on the soft side for travel pyurposes. Please pack in a labeled zip-lock-type freezer bag (1 qt. size)
One dozen per bag
- By having kids make posters or 8.5 x 11 inch pictures
with written prayers or "happy" pictures
signed with first names and ages
-
By pledging one hour of prayer during the weekend
Please Deliver to St. Charles (for storage and freezing)
