Justice: Suggested Actions for the Jubilee

Freedom Actions

Justice

  • Each week, for one month, bring a non-perishable "meal" to church to stock the food pantry.
  • Change your attitude towards someone you would usually not consider your "equal."
  • Take some quiet moments to pray and reflect. Evaluate your lifestyle and the work you do. Are your gifts and resources truly in service to the God of life, liberation and love? Or, are you mostly focused on the pursuit of material comforts and the status they bring? If the latter, take steps to change your lifestyle or career.
  • Seek to use your energies so that humanity might become what God wants it to be. Ask yourself if your actions contribute to social injustice, and what you can do to bring justice into your homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
  • Make the time and effort to see God in each person, regardless of their actions or appearance.
  • Pick one social justice issue--hunger, the sanctity of life, poverty, low-income housing, etc.--and learn more about it. How does it affect your local community? How can you effect a change in this?
