Forgiveness & Reconciliation: Suggested Actions for the Jubilee

Forgiveness Actions

forgiveness

  • Pray for someone who has caused you to feel resentful, angry or hurt.
  • Talk with one person who is on the "opposite side" of the spectrum from you, whose dignity you have a difficult time seeing. You may find that reconciliation is possible and that relationships can grow.
  • Do something that will put you in contact with people unfamiliar to you in race, culture, nationality, religion, etc., and then observe, ask questions and share. Start right here at St. Charles.
  • Faithfully discern God’s design for forgiveness and reconciliation for yourself and for your community.
  • Use the next time a "jerk" driver cuts you off as a reminder to be more courteous in your own driving, rather than as a reason to fume about their lack of consideration.
  • List the people you need to forgive. List the people who need to forgive you. List the areas where you need to stretch yourself in accepting differences.
