Celebration: Parishioner Reflections on the Jubilee Year

...a child, born almost 2000 years ago, still influences my life, and the lives of thousands of people around the world...

Celebration!As I’m writing this reflection on Celebration, the beginning of this Jubilee year, I can think of many ways we celebrate, and how those celebrations fill our lives. After all, isn’t it true that memories are among the few things we can treasure forever?

However, this celebration is very unique because of the fact that a child, born almost 2000 years ago, still influences my life, and the lives of thousands of people around the world. Therefore, I believe that in this year Christians are committed more than ever to follow the Word of God, and to thank God for the little things we receive every day. As for myself, I ask God to give me the patience to understand people with different ideas, and to be honest with myself and with others.

Prayer:
O God, let the Jubilee scripture be heard in us this year:

"The spirit of the Lord is upon me;
therefore he has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to proclaim liberty to captives,
Recovery of sight to the blind
and release to prisoners,
To announce a year of favor from the Lord...
Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
-- (Luke 4)
