The parishioners and friends of St. Charles’ Borromeo Church have a commitment to our sister parishes in Cavaillon, Gros Marin and Sudre, Haiti. We help our sister parishes with prayers and with financial support for education, health projects and community needs. “Haiti Godparents” are a key part of this relationship. With individual annual $100 donations St. Charles parishioners and friends make Catholic schooling possible for needy children in four rural communities. Most families in our sister parishes have incomes of only a few hundred dollars a year. The public schools do not have space for all the school-age population and are not present in many rural communities. They also require fees. When incomes hardly cover food and shelter, school is beyond the reach of many families.

As a godparent, you will receive the name and photo of your godchild. You may also send letters. Many of you feel that you meet Christ through this solidarity with disadvantaged youngsters in Haiti.

Hunger is a reality for many of our young students. We therefore also support school lunch programs at the four Catholic rural schools our godchildren attend. If you want to contribute to the lunch program, you may include a contribution ($50 is suggested) for that in your check.
