How One Person was Touched by Georgette Forney

She had an abortion when she was 16 years old, and immediately went into denial for 19 years. She pretended it never happened, and didn't dwell on it too much.

However, in retrospect, once she finally faced the abortion and her feelings about it, she realized how much it had affected her life and all her decisions. It affected her relationships, including who she decided to marry, her decision to have other children, her health, and many other areas of her life (led to substance abuse, obsessive perfectionism, etc.). Her speech is touching and moving (there is a even a moment when she talks about having to explain to her 8 year-old daughter about her abortion - wow).

So one reason she is a great speaker is because she illuminates how much abortion is affecting American women without them even knowing it.

She is also a great speaker because once she became involved in pro-life work, she encountered thousands of women who had had similar experiences. Therefore, her observations have weight because she doesn't just bring her personal story to the mix, but she has many, many similar stories of how women in America have experienced abortion. Silent No More grew out of her reaction to those stories, and I believe it is a great ministry for people at St. Charles to become aware of.

She also has a wonderful message of hope and healing for those who are dealing with abortion in their lives. She is compassionate and non-judgemental in dealing with audiences that might include people who have been involved in abortions.

Georgette understands the pro-woman arguments against abortion - not only those that encompass the physical and emotional difficulties it causes, but the reasons why women are driven to abortion. She is deeply involved in the Women Deserve Better campaign, so she can speak to social justice advocates about how being against abortion is being for social justice for women. She is also very knowledgeable about the issues, so she can switch on a dime from talking about personal trauma to reciting statistics.

She is well-spoken, professional-looking, and speaks the truth in love and with feeling because she has been there. Hers is one of the best pro-life talks I have heard in years, and we am very excited she will be coming to St. Charles.
