COMMENTS FROM RESPONDENTS

Online Registration and Automation

  • registering on web site
  • Im a new parisioner at St Charles and I would like to have been able to register on line, but that is not an option, so I will do it in the church office Sunday.
  • I really really wish we could register for the Parish online. I have been attending mass for over 5 years -- and a CCD teacher there for 5 years -- and I still haven't made it into the Parish office to register. I never seem to remember when I'm on site.
  • Add parish registration forms to be filled out and brought in.
  • Can you make a form for BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS that is set up like this survey?
  • Is there any way to eliminate the extra step of emailing someone when you want to reserve a room and have it placed on the calendar? Can that step be automated?

the volunteer section needs to be updated.

was just looking on information regarding Ascension Thursday and whether or not it was a Holy Day of Obligation. I can't find a peep about this feast anywhere on the site. To be fair, I couldn't find the info I need on the Diocesan website, the Arlington Catholic Herald website or the Catholic Encyclopedia website either... :-(

We have to work to get the various "private" calendars integrated into a single information base, and to avoid conflicts among events. but you already know this, and we [ministry volunteers] must help this happen.

Since there is no missal with the prayers of the Mass (it is more a hymnal) could you publish the readings for the Mass?

information on volunteer opportunities for music ministers, e.g., volunteer cantors, instrumentalists

Photos

  • i wish the other priests had pictures too because I don't know what they look like.
  • Parish office staff and priests. Out of date. Update new members. Remove those who have left. Need pictures of each of staff and of priests. Need a brief commentary on each (when start work, how long at St Charles, hobbies...)
  • Pictures of the workers in the rectory and the front desk; information about what services are available from that pointy desk in the parish center; information about how to rent out Benedict Hall or if parishioner discounts are available
  • Given that we have new priests in residence from time to time, it would be great to add digital photos to the clergy page to help parishioners become familiar with our associate pastors, priests in residence, etc.... possibly even photos of key lay folks/parish council, etc.
  • I particularly like the photos of parish events. It would be nice if coverage could be expanded. Some of the montages are quite creative, you are obviously putting a lot of effort into this.
  • More photos! More photo links! More photo event transcriptions (articles), and accompanying photos. I really like photos of activities of all kinds at St Charles Borromeo parish!

How to have masses said for special purposes. Perhaps it's there - I haven't looked in a while. Will look now (didn't want to have to repeat survey :-D)
Would like to see a blurb on the home page that links to the Sacrament of Marriage, i.e., Getting married in the church?
color of the vestments for the upcoming Sunday
Eucharistic Minister schedule.
Posting the Eucharistic minister schedule would be helpful.

Some Neighborhood Web pages need to be updated.

Each month provide a running financial update showing year-to-date revenue collected, general operating expenses and each outreach program. (Financial data provided in Bulletin is on per week basis and, therefore, of little value in providing parishoners timely info re use of their funds. Annual financial report does not serve useful purpose.

More provision for feedback from parishoners on programs, homilies, ministries, etc

With iPods becoming so popular, would it be possible to have Fr. Creedon's homilies made into podcasts to download from the site?

I really enjoy reading Father Creedon's homilies. I would love to see other priests' homilies on the web site as well - every priest at St. Charles has a lot to offer to our community.

Homily summaries for the other priests besides Fr. Creedon; more photos from parish events; short recaps of the monthly highlights, like how many people showed up for an event or how much money was raised; summaries of the terrific stories about the parish shared at the ministries dinner this month!

directions to the church need to be reviewed. when you click on the mapquest link it shows a different state and church. [now fixed]

Link to GMU Catholic Campus Ministry. Outreach to GMU Catholics at the Arlington Campus.

You might do polls of favorite songs at Mass. You would have to have different songs for each of the Masses, but maybe it could rotate by week. Another poll might be on favorite recent reading/lesson from epistles and gospels.

Information for new parishioners about activities for kids (religious education, etc) displayed in a more prominent location.

I would also be interested in a section specifically geared for children/families... I know that there is a lot of information embedded within the ministry section, etc...; however, I might add an icon for "St. Charles' Kids" which could link to the Liturgy of the Word, Religious instruction, How to become an altar boy, children's liturgies, etc.

A monthly prayer guide (like praythenews.com's monthly meditation and prayer guide). Thanks. You do a great job with the website!
I would like you to receive and then post (1) the Mass schedule and (2) the bulletin in a more timely manner.

  • I think the web-site is fantastic! It contains a great deal of information... even the ability to download forms. I know a lot of work goes into maintaining a website and you guys do a great job of that. We also look forward to the humorous write-up about the web-site in the bulletin each week.
