Community Life Ministry Goals

 

Mission Statement:

Community Life Ministries of St. Charles parish provide opportunities to develop and strengthen ministry teams in faith, hope and love through spiritual formation, caring, and evangelization.

 

Planning Year 2005 (Jul 2004-Jun 2005)

Ministry Goals:

  1. To live our faith fully through our participation in faith formation in each ministry team.
  2. To share our faith freely by inviting participation in the various Community Life Ministries.
  3. To transform the world in Christ through the services of our ministries

Ministry Objectives

  A. Pastoral Counseling Services

  1. To be part of the parish's ministry of healing by providing professional counseling with a faith dimension. (Goal #1)
  2. To provide spiritual direction for those desiring to grow in their life of prayer and love. (Goal #2)
  3. To receive fees for service.
  4. To supervise interns and other counselors in the community in order to increase pastoral counseling skills in the community and complete license requirements. (Goal #3)
  5. To hold sessions of the Contemplative Way to increase this dimension of life and prayer and provide Spiritual Growth. (Goal #1)
  6. To respond to the grieving and bereavement needs of the Circle of Caring.
  7. To be part of the pastoral team, supporting each other. (Goal #2)

B. Community Life Ministries

  1. Introduce a period of prayer and reflection as part of each ministry's meetings. (Goal #1)
  2. Promote the formation of Community Life ministry teams in (extra space) the Moms ministry. (Goal #2)
  3. Gather for mid-year meeting of community life leaders in January to set new goals and objectives and prepare a budget.
  4. Thank ministry leaders and key individuals at a Spring volunteer celebration dinner.
  5. Develop ways to communicate the activities of the different community life ministries. (Goal #3)
  6. Promote the use of the Community Life ministries and subministries webpages as an opportunity to have ministries work together (Goal#2)

  Children of God's Love

  1. Increase the number of participants in Children of God's Love prayer group without losing the focus on prayer. (goal #1)
  2. To sponsor the gatherings of diocesan Charismatic groups occasionally.
  3. Invite parishioners to participate in the diocesan healing services (goal #3)

Circle of Caring

  1. Respond to people and families in the parish who are in need (grieving, homebound, needing visits, prayer, food, etc.) (goal #3)
  2. Invite those who are in need to request help. (goal #2)
  3. Develop a bereavement program. (goal #1)
  4. Improve the Circle or Caring presence via web pages, bulletin and newsletter (goal #2)
  5. Develop Circle of Caring team.

Cursillo

  1. Publicize Cursillo weekends on the web, in the bulletin and by way of the pulpit. (goal #1 & #2)

C'YA

  1. Continue to expand the membership of C'YA through events such as the Sunday Night Socials, CYA plans to draw in and maintain more young adults in its membership (goal #2)
  2. Work with other community life and other parish ministries to integrate young adults into other ministries and parish life (goal#1 and #2)
  3. Continue involvement with the Sunday evening mass, especially on the evening of the Sunday night social. (goal #1 and #2)
  4. Develop Praise and Worship adoration and speaker/small group nights twice monthly to increase Christian fellowship.
  5. Attend to the needs of our members through events such as day and weekend retreats, and have leadership retreats.
  6. Provide a variety of social, sports, and fun events together.
  7. Provide an opportunity for a small group to gather to read, reflect and discuss scripture. (goal #1)

Marriage Ministry

  1. Continue to publish and distribute the “Marriage Support at St. Charles Church ” brochure to promote all resources available to help couples make and keep their marriages strong, such as Engaged couple Sponsor Program, Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Marriage Circles and Retrovaille. (goal #1)
  2. The marriage ministry team will meet monthly for a share circle and to plan marriage events for the parish.
  3. Have two workshops a year which will strengthen marriages. Include babysitting, and in February have a special celebration for World Marriage Day, which would include the renewal of vows at the Saturday 5P.M. Mass with a reception to follow. (goal #2)
  4. Solicit volunteers to sponsor engaged couples in parish and train volunteers in an orientation session. (goal #2)
  5. Publicize Marriage Encounter weekends in the bulletin and website, with the goal of having at least one couple and as many as four couples from St. Charles to attend a weekend in 2004-05. (goal #1)
  6. As an outcome of the Marriage workshops, encourage a new marriage circles.
  7. Advertise Retrouvaille weekends to the parish family so more hurting couples can take advantage of what Retrouvaille has to offer. (goal #2)
  8. Look to making connections with Borromeo Housing.

MOMS Ministry

  1. Encourage the developing of a Mom's Ministry team.
  2. Encourage another Mom's sharing group with the Mom's Journal (goal #2)
  3. Have an adult ed program that is geared to parenting. (goal #1)
  4. Circulate Moms Ministry Needs Questionnaire to moms in the parish; develop a database to analyze needs and identify volunteers to meet those needs. (goal #2)
  5. Attend the Baptism classes as an outreach to new Mom's. Look to develop a core team for a new Mom's and Me program.
  6. Continue outreach to mothers with newborns through volunteers delivering meals. Recruit additional parishioners willing to deliver meals. (goal #2)
  7. Establish service projects to support mothers at Borromeo Housing or area shelters. (goal #3)
  8. Provide support as appropriate for Welcome the Children Co-op Nursery. (Goal #2)

Scripture Review

  1. Continue bible study to enrich the faith of the participants (goal #1)
  2. Publicize the existence of group. (goal #2)
  3. During Advent/Lent use the materials that the parish provides for small group life.

Web Team

  1. Call to Holiness—To Live our Faith Fully (parish goal I)
    1. Add new faith-related content for each liturgical season and for three parish events (such as a guest speaker's transcript or resources from an educational event) [IA].
    2. Recruit two additional volunteers to support the San Carlos site [IC]
  2. Call to Welcome and Invite—To Share our Faith Freely (Parish Goal #II)
    1. Add pictures of a cross-section of parishioners and activities to 25 webpages to make the parish website more welcoming to all [IIA]
    2. Work with the emerging seniors group to develop a dedicated section of the website them [IIA]
  3. Call to Transform the World—To Transform the World in Christ (parish goal #III)
    1. Increase the advertisement of volunteer opportunities online by more ministries so that by year end we average at least 12 openings each month with the success rates tracked and published. [III A]
    2. Establish benchmarks for church site performance based on what area churches are doing online. [III B]
