So, You Haven't Been Confirmed in the Catholic Church?

There is no time like the present! If you have been baptized Catholic and received your first Eucharist, but were never Confirmed and desire to do so… you have 2 options:.

  1. Join in weekly RCIA gatherings (usually Sundays from 10:10-11:30am) with others preparing for Sacraments in the Catholic Church, some for baptism, some for Eucharist and/or Confirmation. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is a thorough experience of the Catholic faith community at St. Charles and the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. You decide when you are ready to be Confirmed at St. Charles. This process is recommended for all preparing for Confirmation, especially for those with limited experience and knowledge of the Catholic faith community as an adult.   2. This year, there is also an abbreviated overview of the Catholic Church for those preparing for Confirmation…consider it the "Cliff-Notes" of Catholicism. These weekly gatherings will be held from 7:10 - 8:15 PM each Sunday evening from April 6 through June 22. Confirmations will be celebrated on June 8, 2003, with Bishop Loverde at the Arlington Cathedral of St. Thomas Moore. See full schedule below.

NOTE: All Confirmation Candidates will need to provide a recent copy of their baptismal certificate (received from their church of baptism within the last 6 months). Each candidate will also need a fully initiated Catholic to be his or her sponsor. If you do not have a sponsor, one from the parish can usually be assigned. More on this at the April 6 meeting.
