Community Life - Goals & Objectives
Our Mission: Community Life seek to foster and nurture relationships among the people of St. Charles parish to assist in Christian growth and holiness

Planning Year 2003 (Jul 2002-Jun 2003)

Community Life Ministries Goals

  1. To serve as an umbrella and foster active small groups rooted in Scripture, prayer and friendship
  2. To publicize small group life at St. Charles and to be evangelists expanding the circle of St. Charles
  3. To strengthen the leadership teams of the individual community life ministries

Community Life Ministries - Objectives

  1. Promote the formation of short-term ministry teams to prayerfully plan special events.
  2. Gather for a fall dinner of community life ministries to begin the ministry year together.
  3. Thank ministry leaders at an early summer celebration

Children of God's Love:

  1. Increase the number of participants in Children of God's Love prayer group without losing the focus on prayer.
  2. Plan a Parish Day of Prayer with a focus on Love.

Circle of Caring:

  1. Respond to people and families in the parish who are in need (grieving, homebound, needing visits, prayer, food, etc.)
  2. Invite those who are in need to request help
  3. Provide an electronic prayer tree for the parish
  4. Place Fr. Creedon's weekly homily on the St. Charles web site 
  5. Improve the Circle of Caring Presence

Cursillo: 

  1. Publicize Cursillo weekends on the web, in the bulletin and through pulpit
  2. Re-energize the Cursillo community present at St. Charles by helping to find a host site for quarterly Ultreya.
C'YA:
  1. Develop and widen the base of leadership of C'YA

 Marriage Ministry:

  1. Continue to publish and distribute the “Marriage Support at St. Charles Church” brochure to promote all resources available to help couples make their marriages strong, such as Retrovaille, Marriage Circle and Engaged Couple Sponsor Program
  2. Find a new couple willing to serve as World Wide Marriage Encounter contract that will form a core team to plan this event.
  3. Publicize Marriage Encounter weekends through pulpit talks, ministry fair, web updates and weekly bulletin.
  4. Provide opportunity to renew marriage vows during Saturday 5 P.M. Mass followed by a reception in cafeteria.
  5. Increase the number of participants in monthly Marriage Circle gatherings through invitations in pulpit talks, ministry fair, web updates and bulletin announcements.
  6. Solicit volunteers to sponsor engaged couples in parish.
  7. Train volunteers in an orientation session
  8. Host a dinner for Marriage Preparation Sponsor couples.

Mom's Ministry:

  1. Start one or two additional mothers sharing groups through the use of the MOMS journal.
  2. Continue weekly gathering of Moms-n-Me in the parish library.
  3. Continue outreach to mothers with newborns through volunteers delivering meals.
  4. Establish mentoring relationships with young mothers at Borromeo Housing.
  5. Sponsor four seasonal social and spiritual events in the parish.
  6. Provide support as appropriate for Welcome the Children Co-Op Nursery.

Scripture Review:

  1. Publicize the existence of the group.
  2. Find a suitable new sources of materials
  3. Find a person to lead effort to maintain library.
  4. Continue to offer a fall and spring Scripture Review course

Web Team:

    Make our site an important spiritual resource for the St. Charles community

  1. Add at least one new spiritual reflection for each liturgical season and a monthly faith fact tied to adult education.
  2. Expand the depth of the Spanish language section
  3. Publish feedback from parishioners on homilies and other features.

  Provide a higher quality, more effective service through our site.

  1. Show progress of Community Center from both a fundraising and construction perspective, such as through a virtual photo diary.
  2. Create at least one online automated from, such as registration for a parish event.
  3. Update point-of-contact and baseline information in conjunction with the Volunteer Fair planners if they are interested.
  4. Survey the parish at least once to identify where the website should be improved and respond to that feedback
  5. Create an online checklist for preparing for the sacrament of marriage at St. Charles.

  Develop the Web Team into an organized, evangelizing ministry

  1. Make faith, fun, fellowship part of every Web Team gathering
  2. Use the Web Team pages as a model of the site's capabilities
  3. Develop templates and custom email addresses to help ministries self-publish on the site.

  Increase the visibility and use of our site

  1. Increase awareness of our site by requesting the URL to appear on the front of the bulletin below the address in the same large point size type; on the front of the Spanish bulletin; and in three additional high-visibility spaces.
  2. Double monthly traffic between January 2002 and June 2003; provide quarterly traffic statistics to ministries
  3. Establish benchmarks for church site performance based on what area churches are doing online
