Salvation History in Stained Glass

A virtual tour of the stained glass windows of St. Charles Church

Sacrament windows

The windows of St. Charles Church are dedicated to the glory of God, to enhance the beauty of our worship environment, and to remind us of the saving deeds of our God in the past, present and future.

Sacraments:

The last set of windows shows how salvation history continues through the sacramental life of the Church. God continues to encounter His People and draw them to Himself through the Holy Spirit working by means of outward signs. The greatest outward sign is the Church, the People of God. The first window to the far left shows a priest witnessing a couple conferring the Sacrament of Matrimony on one another. Next, people gather around the bed of a sick person as he receives the Sacrament of the Sick. The three center windows of this set depict the sacraments of Initiation central to our life in Christ: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. The window on the far right shows the other healing sacrament, the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Since priest and bishop are shown administering sacraments, there is no window for the Holy Order in itself.

About the Studio:

Rohlf's Studio is known as one of America's foremost stained glass conservators. Among some of the most notable restoration achievements are such famed religious edifices as New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral and Trinity Church on Wall Street.

Rohlf's Studio is privileged to have been selected to create the new stained glass windows for St. Charles. We trust that they will inspire all who worship within this beautiful sanctuary and be a lasting memorial to all.
