The windows of St. Charles Church are dedicated to the glory of God, to enhance the beauty of our worship environment, and to remind us of the saving deeds of our God in the past, present and future.
To the right of the altar
are the Epiphany windows, beginning with the Adoration of the Magi. The color
for the Epiphany is green, and a greenish gold ray emanates from the Star of
Bethlehem( and from the Holy Spirit). Taken in conjunction with the blues,
purples and golds, it suggests Heaven, Spiritual Love, Truth and Divinity. Blue
is also the color of Virgin Mary.
The second set of windows
relate to the Baptism of Christ. The act of washing garments suggests a
cleansing of the spirit. The Christ figure is very warm in color, suggesting
His Divinity. When he was baptized, the Heavens were opened to Him and He saw
the Spirit of God descending like a dove. This is also suggested in the
background.
The third part of the
Epiphany includes Christ's first miracle at the Marriage at Cana. Again, the
greenish- yellow areas moving down through the window suggest celebration, and
a calmness in the window itself is evident. The newly married couple in the
upper right area are embracing, and the blues and purples reflect the feeling
in their love and the love of God surrounding them.
