The Passion of the Creedon
Movie review by Roger E. Bert

The Passion of the Creedon
Prepare yourself for a movie that takes a harrowing look at a bloody 12 hours on the golf course, with close-ups of the blistered hands of a pastor forced to carry his own bag as he's abandoned by his foursome, denied 3 times what he shot on the water hole, and endures the agony in the sandtrap. When Gerry Creedon climbs to Golfgotha, the name means club of the country, and cries, "My caddy, my caddy! Why have you abandoned me? (I need a yard-read and club selection)," you can't help but to feel his pain. Some of the brutality will leave you numb, however, such as showing all 40 of his slices into the woods.

Throughout it all, Creedon's determination to complete the course set out before him is relentless. At the film's conclusion, when the boulder is rolled back to reveal a gleaming white ball in the rough, you see the power of perseverance over the easier route of taking a do-over. The scene isn't meant to fan the fires of anti-mulliganism, but to show the redemptive power of one man's passion for the game of golf.
