Cookies for Kairos
100 Dozen Homemade Cookies Needed for
Prison Ministry at Fluvanna Woman's Maximum Security Center
October 16 - 19, 2008
Purpose :
· A 3-day retreat to build up the Christian community in the negative prison environment;
· To provide an atmosphere for conversion and reconciliation;
· To carry out the Gospel, "when I was in prison, you visited me" with ongoing follow-up.
Prisoners want to come to this retreat within the prison when they hear about the homemade cookies! They find healing, trust, community, God. Please make each cookie with prayer. These cookies help open hearts to repentance and forgiveness and an awareness of God's vast love. They share these cookies with others. Many people from St Charles will be cooking. We tell them people have cooked/prayed for them. Your names are written on a paper chain that surrounds the room. They are so touched that others would care for them.
Bake any recipe you would like, but please keep in mind that if we are to take each and every cookie into the institution, we need to follow certain guidelines of the prison. This means that specific ingredients cannot be used.
