Polka Party

On a cold Saturday night C'YA members arrived at the Knights of Columbus hall in north Arlington for the annual Polka Party that benefits St. Charles School. Although C'YA always has a contingent there, this year had our best turnout in recent memory. Evelyn Aswad's comment about last year's "ridiculously fun" event sparked renewed interest. More that fifteen C'YA members attended, including Dan and Becky who had just returned from that day's ski trip.

Mike Surratt and the Continentals performed such polka tunes as "Who Stole the Kishka" and "Roll Out the Barrel" as well as their rendition of pop standards like "Shout" and "We are Family." C'YA members formed a conga line and eventually were the last ones left on the dance floor. After Mary Frances said, "that's it, I'm going," the bandleader said "okay, we're done too."

Suggestions were made that in preparation for next year, we'll have polka dancing lessons so we can hold our own with St. Charles' skillful senior citizen polka dancers.
