Meetings Update
The Ambassadors Group, whose membership was detailed in the last newsletter, has continued to meet with the Parish Center Executive Committee and MTFA Architecture. This group has been invaluable in giving feedback to the Executive Committee and those individuals are to be commended for their interest and dedication to this project.
Building Location
Many parishioners have been asking where the Parish Center will be built. Concerns about loss of parking, etc. have led MTFA Architecture and the Parish Center Executive Committee to recommend to the Ambassadors Group that the appropriate location is on the corner of Fairfax Drive and Kirkwood Road, where the "circle" presently exists. This site has several advantages, including:
Building Plans
MTFA Architecture, the Parish Center Executive Committee and our Ambassadors Group have concluded discussion on the internal scheme of our planned Parish Center (Phase I of our Master Plan). A parish hall and various sized meeting rooms along with rest rooms and a kitchen will occupy the first floor of the center with a gymnasium/multi-purpose room sitting above on the second level. In addition, the center will be attached to both the school and the upper room. Handicapped access in the form of a ramp as well as an elevator are part of the program.
Cost Estimates
As explained in our March newsletter, cost estimates have revamped upwards to $4.68 million dollars. Since that time, St. Charles representatives have met with the Diocesan Finance Committee to appraise them of the updated figures.
Additional Fundraising
Jane McCarthy, our Capital Campaign Administrator, has been helping to create a schedule of new fundraising activities. Look for more information about upcoming events within the next several weeks or call Jane at 703/527-5500 extension 26.
