If you are interested in adopting a St. Charles parishioner, please e-mail BOTH Gilda Ordonez at Gildaordonez@hotmail.com AND Evelyn Aswad at EvMary02@aol.com.
Time: On March 22nd, meet at St. Charles at 8:30 am to carpool. Retreat ends at 4pm so we should be back by 5pm.
Cost: $30 (The decision to attend should be a spiritual one not a financial one, so if money is an issue, please let us know).
RSVP: If you are interested, please respond to Stacy Lucas stacyolucas@hotmail.com, or Tita Ponce aponce98@yahoo.com by March 14th so we can let the Joshua House know how many to expect. Feel free to bring a friend. You don’t have to be Catholic to attend this day retreat.
What to expect: There will be 2 talks in the morning and 1 in the afternoon with time for personal reflection and small group discussion.
Topic: The theme for this day retreat is "Jesus Heal Us". The retreat will focus on the healing that took place in the scripture and explain Jesus’ theology behind them and how Jesus is still healing today. Talks/discussion will compare what happened then and how Jesus used his healing then and how it is still happening today. There will be a little prayer service at the end with a blessing, but you don't have to be sick to come, you just have to want to know more about Jesus and want to be healed of maybe not loving better or forgiving someone.
Personal note: I have attended 2 day retreats at the Joshua House last year and they both were great experiences. The retreats are run by Sr. Dorothy Ederer and Father Joe Girzone (author of the Joshua series). Sr. Dorothy worked for a number of years in campus ministry and Fr. Joe was a parish priest before retiring. They are both wonderful speakers and approach our faith and our relationship with Christ in a real, down to earth manner. There will be individuals and other small groups from area parishes attending this retreat as well. For more information, feel free to explore their website at http://home.nycap.rr.com/joshuahome/.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact, Stacy Lucas stacyolucas@hotmail.com, or Tita Ponce aponce98@yahoo.com .
March 16-March 23 is designated by Dress for Success as in "Clean Out Your Closet Week." Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income women make transitions into the workforce. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and a second suit when she gets the job. Dress for Success benefits 45,000 women each year. Dress for Success is seeking 30,000 suits during Clean Out Your Closet Week.
We will be at the St. Charles parish office after the 9am and 1lam masses on Sunday, March 23 to collect any suits you would like to donate to this worthy cause.
Guys - you aren't off the hook -- please bring this to the attention of your female relatives and friends too! Thanks!
If you'd like to learn more about the organization, please check out http://www.dressforsuccess.org. Also, Dress Barn is the national drop-off site for Clean Your Closet Week 2003 so you can drop off your suit directly if that's more convenient. However, please note - they are closed on Sunday, but are making a special exception to allow us to drop off the St. Charles suits on Monday morning.
Also, Dress Barn will be providing coupons and discounts to those who contribute. We will have these coupons/discounts in the parish office for distribution to those who donate on Sunday.
please e-mail BOTH Gilda Ordonez at Gildaordonez@hotmail.com AND Evelyn Aswad at EvMary02@aol.com.
