33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
As we approach the feast of Christ the King on November 23, the church
is called to account for our stewardship. The nations will be judged
on their willingness to give food to the hungry.
Last weekend through our stewardship program we renewed our promises
to the parish to fund our services even in the worst of times. God loves
a cheerful giver and perhaps even more a sacrificial gift.
This weekend through a second collection for the Propagation of the
Faith, we offer support to our sister
parishes in Banica and Pedro Santana in the Dominican Republic,
where Fr. Jack and I served before returning to St Charles. Your support
enables the church to continue a ministry of faith and compassion with
people who have a food and water crisis as well as an ever ending fiscal
crisis.
In many ways we build the Kingdom of Christ's love and justice.
Peace

Gerry Creedon

- Financial donations to be placed in the "turkey containers"
at the entrances of the church after the weekend Masses.
- We need help to prepare the dinners on Wed, Nov 26 beginning

PANTRY NEEDS GROCERY BAGS
Our Food Pantry is in need of brown paper grocery bags with handles.
If you can donate these, please drop them off in the Parish Office.
Also, if you can pick up a few items when you are shopping this week,
we are in great need of cereal, canned pasta, and rice. In addition,
small cans of protein items for our homeless clients would be appreciated.
Bless you for caring for your neighbor during these difficult economic
times.
CONSTRUCTION NEWS
We are preparing for some needed repairs in some of the walls in the
main hallway of the Parish Center. Once construction starts (maybe within
2 weeks), this will affect access through the main door of the center
during the day. Construction storage will also take some the parking
spaces nearest the front doors of the Center and may last a month or
more. These repairs are absolutely necessary and we appreciate all your
understanding and cooperation. Remember, there is always weekend Mass
overflow parking at the black GMU building at the corner of Wash Blvd
and Kirkwood. You can park either on the surface parking deck entering
on Kirkwood or under the building by entering on Washington Blvd. Overflow
parking is only for our weekend Masses.
