from the pastor...FROM OUR PASTOR

Dear Members of St. Charles,

Last year we studied the feasibility of a Parish Community Center and initiated a strategic plan. Based on our study and the level of parish support evidenced in town meetings and parish surveys, we have established a Parish Center Committee to develop specific plans and options. We have been blessed to have Kathleen Moriarty and two faculty members from Catholic University of America’s School of Architecture donate their professional skills in the development of preliminary designs. A civil engineer has also joined our committee. We need people with experience and skill in the area of fundraising, especially with capital campaigns, to join our effort. Please be in touch with Monica Craven or call the Parish Office if you can help.

Feel the Spirit!

LISTEN TO YOUR DREAMS

What are your dreams telling you? Where does the dream information come from? There are "big" and "little" dreams, but nearly all dreams -- even the scary ones -- come to help us be more in touch with our interior lives, and tell us more than we already know. August 21, 10 AM to 11:30 AM for five weeks (first session in the Parish Library), $8.00 per session. Facilitated by Sylvia Teem who, for 15 years, has studied dreams in groups, seminars and workshops. Do you want to learn more? Or if this is new to you - welcome. Limited Registration. Call the Pastoral Counseling Office at 527-5500 x15 to register.

THANK YOU! Through the kindness of the sponsors that appear, this bulletin is furnished to our Parish without charge. We feel the sponsors get good coverage with their ads, and at a relatively low cost and we urge you to patronize them. Diocesan Publications has done a fine job in publishing our weekly bulletin and we hope our present sponsors renew their ads. Also, if others are interested, please contact the Parish Office or call Diocesan Publications at 800-233-8200.

SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Our special thanks to James M. Petko, Podiatrist for supporting our Parish.

Ministry

Since parents give life to their own children, they have the right to be recognized as the first and principal educators. They also have the duty to create a family atmosphere, filled with love and respect for God and neighbor, which favors the personal and social education of their children. What a great task the mother has! Thanks to the particularly deep bond which unites her to her child, she can draw her child close to Christ and the Church in an effective way.
-John Paul II, June 14 Homily at Lowicz

A "Town Hall" meeting has been arranged to discuss the future of C’YA (St. Charles Young Adults) along with setting goals which will better define the group as a community building ministry here at St. Charles. The meeting will be preceded by an ice cream social beginning at 7 PM in the School Cafeteria. If you are interested in getting more involved, now is the time! ST. COLETTA SCHOOL COLLECTION

Next weekend, members of Porto Caravan No. 104 Order of Alhambra will be conducting their annual collection for the St. Coletta School. St. Coletta’s is a Diocesan sponsored school offering academic, religious, and vocational training for mentally disadvantaged but educable children and young adults. All funds collected are donated in their entirety to support the school operating expenses. This year’s collection is dedicated in the memory of St. Coletta Founder Hazel Hagarty. Please be generous in your support.

OFFERTORY ENVELOPES

Using the pre-printed envelopes mailed to you, speeds the process of counting the contributions each week, and also insures that your donation will be reflected in your annual statement issued at the end of the year. Be assured that donations placed in any of the envelopes included in your packet will be credited to your account. Please, no staples or tape on the envelopes. Placing the amount of your donation on the front of the envelope would be of great assistance. Thank you for using your envelope each week.
