from the pastor's desk...

Dear Members of St. Charles,

St. Charles parish joins me in welcoming our new Bishop, Paul Loverde, as Ordinary of the Diocese of Arlington. He will be installed this coming Thursday. Let us pray that he may shepherd and lead our local church with courage and faith as we prepare for a new Millennium. I pledge to him the cooperation, support and hospitality of the people of St. Charles.

The Tuesday Lenten Series will focus on Capital Punishment. My Saturday Update will address “Easter and dealing with loss and grief” on the 27th. You are also welcome to join me at St. Mary’s in Fairfax on Thursday the 25th for a presentation on “How to implement the church’s Social Teaching”.

Please remember the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal!

Feel the Spirit!

This year, we are asking the community to make their wonderful soups and breads (please bring your soups in pots ready to heat on the stove). Or, if you don’t have the time to make soup or bread, donate the cost of what you would spend to go out to eat. Proceeds will benefit Borromeo Housing. Then if your schedule permits, join us for the Lenten talks.

Soup kitchens will begin at 6:00 PM in the School Cafeteria. Soup will be served until 7:30 PM when the Jubilee Justice Lenten Talks begin.
