Christ the King

FROM OUT PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
"Those who lead the many to justice will shine like the
stars in the firmament". This weekend we celebrate the Feast
of Christ the King. The Reign of God in the teaching of Jesus
and in the prophets involves the establishment of justice. Justice
has been described as the minimal requirement of love. It is also
associated with the creation of the conditions for the living
of a decent human life for all of God's children. One of the great
justice programs established by the US Catholic Church is the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development. It supports self help
programs led by poor people. St. Charles participates in Virginians
Organized for Inter-faith Community Engagement (VOICE). This initiative
receives funding from CCHD. You will find information on the parish
website that documents some of its accomplishments over the past
year. I thank St. Charles for your continuing support to the collection
and to the activities that support human development and the fight
against poverty.
In this season of thanksgiving I am so grateful for the many
expressions of service highlighted by our Centenary Celebration
recently. With gratitude,
Gerry Creedon
PS: Come to our Conversations with Creedon on Africa on December
6 at 7:15 pm and learn more about important outreach.

CENTENNIAL CAMPAIGN ANNUAL REPORT
Many, many thanks to all of our parishioners for their support of our
Centennial Campaign. For those of you who do not already know, our campaign
runs through the end of 2010. Our most recent campaign in-pew appeal
raised $114,000. Since the October appeal, we have raised an additional
$12,475 in pledges. Our total amount pledged to the campaign as of November
5th is $1,018,670.00. A total of 254 households use the regular Centennial
Campaign envelope to make their payment. For the month of October, payments
made to the campaign via the regular campaign envelope totaled $20,925.00.
The total number of households that make an EFT payment each month is
58 for a total of $4,566.00. Currently there are 104 households making
monthly credit card payments to the campaign totaling $7,571.00. There
have been 65 single gifts made to the campaign for a grand total of
$20,295.00. In order to reach our goal of 1.5 million, we still need
to raise an additional $481,330.00. If you have any questions about
the campaign, would like to make a pledge, or set up a meeting with
Rebecca A. Kimball, Director of Development, please feel free to call,
or email. We greatly appreciate all of your generous support!!!
