15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Last weekend we were privileged to bless and commission Linda Lacot
as our new school principal. I am enclosing my prayer for Linda. She
will need of our prayer and support since she fills the shoes of Sr.
Benedict.
Lord Jesus, you have been called Teacher and Shepherd. Send your
guiding light on Linda Lacot, St Charles new School Principal. You have
asked us to be like children if we will enter the Kingdom of God. Be
with Linda as she leads our school in its nurture of our children. May
it be a place where a new generation learns to know and love. Pour out
on Linda your spirit of wisdom and understanding, counsel and courage.
Let her be our shepherd, our guide and our first teacher. With her leadership
may our school grow in numbers and faith. May the church say "Amen."
I also welcome Sr. Benedict to a new role in pastoral care. She will
reach out to the sick and our elders who need her special touch of healing
and faith.
We also welcome back Fr. Charles Ukwe from Nigeria. He will assist
the bishop with the Marriage Tribunal and be available also to St Charles
over the summer months.
Meanwhile I am heeding the word of the Lord; "Come to me and I
will give you rest." There is no better place for a few weeks than
the banks of the River Lee in the company of my family in Ireland. Until
my return
peace.
Gerry Creedon

CONTINUING THE MISSION
The mission of Our Lord Jesus Christ does not diminish over time. You
can help perpetuate His mission with a gift through your estate. A simple
bequest, beneficiary designation or gift annuity will help our parish
to continue serving our faith community for the next generation and
beyond. Your thoughtful gift will live into the future. For more information
call the diocesan Planned Giving Office at (703) 841-2516, or visitw
www.arlingtondiocese.planyourlegacy.org.
Questions? Please contact Joanne Hansinger, member of the parish Development
Committee at (703) 531-9916 or at jhansinger@catholic.org.
Thank you for your great generosity to St. Charles Borromeo Church!

for their support.
HAITI GODPARENTS SPONSORSHIP DRIVE
This year's godparent sponsorship drive will be held July 26th &
27th in Benedict Hall after all Masses. This will be the opportunity
for current godparents to get news from their godchild and for new parishioners
to learn more about this program. Thanks to all godparents who have
already renewed their sponsorship and to all parishioners who will help
keep up our commitment to support the 700 students in out twin Haitian
parishes.
ARE YOU REGISTERED AT THE PARISH
Are you new to St. Charles? Please stop by the Parish Office anytime
during office hours to register. Remember that if you plan to be a Godparent
for a Baptism, a Sponsor for a Confirmation or you are planning to be
married in a Catholic Church, you MUST be an active registered parishioner.
Being a registered parishioner also allows us to send you your tax letters
at the end of the year. Did you know that you can sign up at any time
to electronic fund transfer which is a fancy way to say that you can
forget the weekly giving envelopes and have your contributions automatically
deducted from your bank account? This program is growing in popularity
and we welcome new subscribers at anytime. If you have any questions
please call Mrs. Lucia Hittle at the Parish Office.
CREATION OF GOD
"Creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children
of God," writes Paul. Let us children then take care of his good
gift. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, leaving your
car home just two days a week can cut more than 1,500 pounds of greenhouse
gas emission a year. During hot weather, EPA says," don't top off
your gas tank. Even a small gas spill adds to air pollution and wastes
fuel."
