33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This weekend the parish considers its stewardship of God's Blessings.
Over the past week we have been thinking and praying about our role
in supporting St Charles' mission. We are looking at our personal resources
and considering an adjustment of our pledges to the parish offertory.
Sharing our blessings has always been a response to the Gospel. Recently
we saw Zaccheus' reaction to his encounter with Jesus. He climbed the
sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus, was surprised by the Lord's
invitation to visit his home. He decides to share half of his possessions
with the poor.
Our parish does not go that far. We share
a weekly tithe of 10 per cent. Will you consider sharing a larger
portion of your income by pledging to St Charles? If you need more information
on our program or if you would like to change to electronic giving please
be in touch with our Office and our Parish development committee, 703-527-5500.

CHRISTMAS CARDS
Following Masses on December 1st and 2nd, we invite you and your kids
to stop by our table at the reception desk in the Community Center to
write Christmas cards to send to students in Haiti and Kenya. We will
also be selling scarves to support the Kibara project in Nairobi after
9 & 11am Masses on Sunday. We will have cards and pens. If you want
to bring anything to include in your card, we recommend photos of your
family and fun stickers. You can also drop off cards at the Haiti box
at the rectory by December 16th to be sent out. Thank you!
ANNUAL OFFERTORY CAMPAIGN
Today at all the Masses we each took a few moments to reflect upon our
relationship with St. Charles, specifically the financial dimension
of it. If you are still reflecting, please place your card in the collection
basket or return it to the parish office once you are finished. Thank
you for your generosity.
Dear Friends In Christ,
Oktoberfest Participants, and One and all,
Together, we have done it again, under the hard work and leadership
of Angela and Allan Rowley. Congratulations, we cleared over $14,000.00.
The Lord provided the beautiful weather and the people started arriving
at 7:00am. They were greeted by our outstanding worker bees, the Watson's,
the teachers, the parents and friends of St. Charles parish and school,
plus community friends and relatives who support and love us. How
fortunate we are to be so blessed. The alums and so many people of
our past appeared before us and made us realize how many wonderful
people whose lives we have touched and enriched, especially since
the early 1970's. How blessed we are. How many lives we have touched
and encouraged them to do the same. Oktoberfest at St. Charles is
a family reunion, an event to be treasured.
Thank you one and all. In
God all things are possible. Feel the Spirit! Together we are the
Spirit, Thank You!.
In Him Always,
Sister Benedict Kesock, O.S.B., Principal
