31st Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Today celebrates the Feast of St Charles Borromeo. You will find a
brief desciption of his remarkable
life on our website. He had a double dotorate in civil and canon
law by the age of 23, coordinated the Council of Trent despite the nationalisitic
tensions between the bishops, served as archbishop of Milan, renewed
the church's catechetical and liturgical life. However he is best remembered
for spending the church's treasures in support of the victims of the
Black Plague, among whom he died at an early age.
His spirit lives on in this parish named for him. Last weekend by the
end of the 7:0 AM Mass we had already taken care of the African children
orpaned by AIDS who needed scholarships. Extra funds were comntributed.
Our Africa Outreach Committe will expand its efforts with this extraordinary
support.
You are invited to Benedict Hall for "Conversations with Creedon"
Nov. 4 at 7 PM for a reflection on the real presence of Christ; and
to a presentation "Footprints of God in Irish Music" with
noted Irish musicologist Peadar O Riada on Nov. 17 AM.
Saints be Praised!

Gerry Creedon
P.S. Do not forget to vote. The Bishops urge; "We hope the voters
will examine the position of candidates on the full range of issues."

COOKIES FOR KAIROS THANK YOU
To the Dear People of St. Charles,
The Kairos Retreat is over but only just beginning to grow is the love
and acceptance that was shared with the 36 women who participated. A
great big thank you for the delicious cookies you baked as well as the
cards and stamps that were donated for the women in Fluvanna State Penitentiary.
Please keep these ladies in your prayers that they will continue to
feel our Lord's love and peace as we continue to visit with them over
the next year.
Blessing and the peace of Christ to all of you,
Jeanie Sweeney
