The Most Holy Trinity
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Come and join me this Sunday, June 3, at 7pm in Benedict Hall for a Conversation with Dr. Stephen Colecchi on "Critical Areas of the Church's Social Mission". Steve, a parishioner, heads the US Bishops' Dept of Justice and Peace and is former Director of Richmond Diocese' Peace and Justice Office. He is a compelling speaker.
Thanks to the 10 couples who indicated their interest in our Mentor Couples program. It was one more example of, "Ask and you shall receive". We still have a need for more couples so share the gift of your own marriage with others.
We are also seeking additional members of a newly forming Interfaith Committee to promote understanding and unity. You may leave your names at the parish office or just come to our meeting Monday June 4, 2007 at 7:30 PM in room 104.
Peace,

Gerry Creedon

BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL
Thank you to everyone who has supported the BLA this year. The funding from this appeal supports programs and ministries that help in the religious education of children, young adults and families in our diocese as well as supporting various parish programs. If you made a pledge to the BLA, each month you will receive a reminder statement to help you to fulfill your pledge. Your gift to help bring “Hope to Those in Need” to the people of our diocese is profoundly appreciated.

DIVINE MERCY On the weekend of June 23rd, the Icon of Divine Mercy will be visiting our parish. This particular image is a replica of the icon of Divine Mercy displayed in Krakow, Poland where John Paul II dedicated the whole world to Divine Mercy. This icon will remain with us for one week. Five smaller replicas of the icon will go to five families in our parish who have agreed to pray one rosary and one Divine Mercy chaplet each day that the icon remains in their possession.
VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA Bishop Loverde will host an evening of prayer to honor Mary, Mother of God, on Thursday, May 31, at 7pm at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington. A special procession to welcome the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will begin the service.
Reflection for the Week
The week begins with Trinity Sunday, which always follows Pentecost. It celebrates the un-knowable relationship between the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit - and their loving support for us in our lives. Next Sunday, in the US, we celebrate the Body & Blood of Christ.
Lord, help me respond in gratitude with you with at least more of my heart, more of my whole self. And, Lord, let me love my spouse, my children, my parents, my neighbors here and around the world with more patience and reverent care. All week, let me chat with you about them and their needs, so that I might learn to love, with the profound love you with which you have loved me.
And, let's be inspired enough this week to give from the deepest part of our very selves, the depths of our beings, instead of just our surplus.

New Ph.D. on “Pro-Life Success in the States.” In this talk, Professor New will explain how the 20 percent decline in abortions during the 1990s was caused by the passage of more state level pro-life legislation and the use of more effective pro-life commercials.

Each speaker is an expert on this important subject, and our own Father Mullins will moderate.
