Pentecost
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Next weekend brings three important events.
1) We will celebrate the baptism of Finnian Robert Sample during the
11 am Mass.
2) We welcome Dr. Stephen Colecchi as a presenter in the Conversation
with Creedon Series, Sunday at 7:15pm in Benedict Hall. He will
address "Critical Areas of Concern for the Church's Social Mission".
Steve is a parishioner who heads the US Bishops' Dept of Peace and Justice.
3) Our youth host a Cabaret on Saturday evening to showcase their talent
as well as the talent of others in our community and to raise funds
for workcamp.
This weekend we celebrate Pentecost and our unity in the Spirit.
Feel the Spirit!

LAST WEEK TO CAST YOUR VOTE IN THE ANNUAL PARISH WEBSITE USER
SURVEY
This is the last week to join more than 60 other who have taken the
parish website user survey.
We’d like to have 75 responses so take the quick annual survey
of visitors to our website. What’s missing online?
What should change? Whether you’re a first-time visitor
or the site is your homepage or you’re somewhere in between, take
our anonymous survey next time you’re online. And thank
you to all who’ve participated so far.
YOUNG ADULT FAITH SHARING GROUP FORMING
A new summer faith sharing group for young adults (those in
their 20s and 30s) is opening in late June through July. Will
meet on Sunday evenings after the 6pm Mass here at the Church (7:15-8:45pm)
for 7 weeks. Space is limited. To register or for more information,
contact Kristin at 571-723-3847 or email her at kristinmarie21@msn.com.
Caring for God's Creation Today's Psalm celebrates
all of creation and we pray to the Lord to renew the face of the Earth.
We too can join this celebration by acting as faithful stewards of this
Earth that feeds, clothes, and shelters us and all peoples. Thanks
to a generous donation, St. Charles will begin changing many of our
lights to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), which use far less
energy, and last far longer, than traditional light bulbs. If
every American home replaced just one light bulb with an energy efficient
CFL, we would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes
for a year and prevent greenhouse gasses equivalent to the emissions
of nearly 800,000 cars.
DESSERTS FOR DARFUR
Students from St. Charles’ Religious Education program will be
hosting a bake sale to raise money for the children of Darfur on Sunday,
June 3 after the 9am and 11am Masses. We call this event “Desserts
for Darfur!” Please stop by after Mass, choose from our selection
of delicious donuts, bodacious brownies, and chewy chocolate cookies,
and help us help others. Donations are also welcome!
WHY PRO-LIFE?
Please join the St. Charles Respect Life Committee Sunday evenings in
June for a four-part lecture series on the Church’s teachings
on life issues. Each speaker is an expert on this important subject,
and our own Father Mullins will moderate. Refreshments and copies
of John Paul II’s encyclical letter Evangelium Vitae,
The Gospel of Life, will be provided. Each lecture will start
at 7:30pm in the Upper Room, on June 3, 10, 17 and 24. Questions
are especially welcome!
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
PLEASE HELP! Our food Pantry is extremely low on the following
items: pancake mix/syrup, canned vegetables, soup, peanut butter/jelly,
pasta and sauce, powdered/canned milk as well as the pop top cans of
meats/tuna, fruit and energy/granola bars. On behalf of the many
people we are able to help with food and gift cards, we would like to
thank you for your generous donations.
DIVINE MERCY
On the weekend of June 23rd, the Icon of Divine Mercy will be visiting
our parish. This particular image is a replica of the icon of Divine
Mercy displayed in Krakow, Poland where John Paul II dedicated the whole
world to Divine Mercy. This icon will remain with us for one week,
giving us the unique opportunity to pray together as a parish for the
healing of families. Accompanying the icon, will be five smaller
replicas of the icon. These replicas will go to five families in
our parish who have agreed to pray one rosary and one Divine Mercy chaplet
each day that the icon remains in their possession. Stay tuned for
more details.
