2nd Sunday of Easter - Divine Mercy
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
In your name I offer a special word of welcome to the 19 candidates who joined us through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easer Vigil. Thanks to our entire liturgy, music and RCIA teams who worked so hard to create a wonderful celebration of Easter at St. Charles.
Resurrection gives hope for a better world. Come and join with Latinos Unidos de San Carlos in a presentation on justice and peace, with a special focus on Church teaching on immigration. This bilingual event will take place at Benedict Hall at 2:15 on April 15. The presenter is Sister Simone Campbell, a nationally recognized leader in the field of advocacy. All are welcome.
On April 22 at 3:30 pm IAF/NOVA (Industrial Areas Foundation) an interfaith organizing effort in the area of Social Justice is inviting ten of our lay leaders to join me in a leadership meeting in Woodbridge. Please give Marisa Vertrees, our Social Justice Coordinator, a call at the Parish Office, 703-527-5500 for more information.
With Easter joy,

Gerry Creedon

4 Stages of marriage
The 4 stages of marriage are: 1) Romance, 2) Disillusionment, 3) Misery, 4) Awakening. Many marriages experience the first 3 stages. Marriages that end in divorce never make it to the 4th stage of Awakening. Don’t give up without learning about the 4th stage of Awakening. If your marriage suffers from Disillusionment or Misery, please contact Retrouvaille (pronounced retro-vye). For confidential information about or to register for the April program beginning with a weekend on April 20-22, call 703-351-7211 or www.HelpOurMarriage.com

BISHOP’S 2007 LENTEN APPEAL

As of April 3rd, St. Charles parish has pledged of $138,822 with 20% of households participating. BLA funds support Vocations, Family Life, Catholic Charities, Religious Education, Youth, and many parish outreach programs. If you have not yet made a BLA pledge it’s not too late! Either send in your pledge using the form the Bishop will be mailing to you next week or pledge envelopes that are available in the vestibule or the Parish Office. The vestibule envelopes can be returned via the collection basket or Parish Office. Please – do not mail or use these envelopes for payments on pledges already made. These envelopes are for new pledges only! Your BLA gift to “Bring Hope to Those in Need” within our diocese is greatly appreciated.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
Our Food Pantry is in need of peanut butter, jelly, pancake batter (complete)? syrup, canned or powdered milk and rice. We can always use the small, self-opening cans of tuna, sausages, precooked pasta and energy/granola bars for our homeless population. Thank you for your response to our request for grocery store gift cards, they are greatly appreciated.
Housing Teach-In Would you like to learn more about what "Affordable Housing" means? Do you support making housing available to everyone in the community, but don't understand all the terms and the zoning regulations? Arlington Housing Solutions, Inc. is presenting "Housing 101" here at St. Charles this Tuesday, April 17th, at 6:30 pm in Benedict Hall. The program will cover myths and facts about affordable housing, explain the enormity of the
