First Sunday of Lent
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
"Let us create a place for peace,
Living simply so that others may simply live!"
Lent offers us a time of renewed faith and rebirth as we prepare for
Easter, with our Elect - those who met with the Bishop on Saturday night
and were called to baptism. We also keep in mind those joining our faith
tradition this Easter. Make sure you pick up a rice bowl this weekend
for each household. A Lenten Booklet is also available with reflections
on the prodigal son. We hope that each household will find a night to
share a reflection, pray the Rice Bowl prayer, eat a lesser meal and
sacrifice what you might save, spent at a restaurant, with the hungry
of the world. The proceeds of Operation Rice Bowl aid the development
projects of Catholic Relief Services
throughout the world. We will retain 25% for our parish Africa
Outreach project.
You may also want to consider the parish's Lenten offerings, especially
on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
On March 4 at 7 pmI invite you to join me for a Conversation on my
recent trip to our sister parishes in Haiti.
Let us repent and believe the good news!

Gerry Creedon
