Sixth Sunday, Ordinary Time

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

This weekend we are asked to participate in the Bishop's Lenten Appeal. The theme of this program is "Bringing Hope to Those in Need."

Fr. Jack' O Hara and I have had the opportunity to participate directly in two important ministries of the Diocese; Catholic Charities and the Diocesan Mission in the Dominican Republic. We saw first hand how hope could be restored to needy people by the helping hand of compassion.

Fr. Rich Mullins reaches out through the Diocesan Office for Multi-cultural Ministry to new immigrants from many lands. Each of you has the chance to participate in these and similar programs through your pledge to the Bishop's Lenten Appeal. Last year our parish gave strong support to this appeal. This year let us expand our participation even more.

Join us on February 17 for our Haiti Carnaval, a time for festivity before the fast of Lent…

Merci,
Rev. Gerry Creedon

CATHOLIC HERALD COLLECTION
Thank you for your generous support in helping St. Charles defray the cost of the Arlington Catholic Herald! Unfortunately, the Herald has informed us that they can no longer credit St. Charles, or any parish, for direct payments. Please Do Not send your contribution/payment to the Herald as previously requested. Instead, please drop your check made payable to St. Charles Church for the Herald into the collection basket on Sunday or by the Parish Office. The ARLINGTON CATHOLIC HERALD is distributed to every registered Catholic household in the Diocese. Each year, St. Charles Church is assessed a dollar amount based upon the number of registered parishioners. This year our assessment is $21,285.00. PLEASE HELP US TO DEFRAY THIS COST to lessen the impact on our operating funds! A year's subscription to the Herald is only $22.00! Your assistance will enable us to use our funds in other needed areas. Thank You!!!!

RESPECT LIFE ROSARY
Please join the St. Charles Respect Life group for a pro-life rosary following the 11:00 AM Mass.

GROCERY STORE GIFT CARDS NEEDED
Project Lazarus is in need of gift cards from area grocery stores, Giants, Harris Teeter or Safeway in denominations of $10 or $20. Please consider purchasing these when you are doing your weekly food shopping. This will enable the families we serve to purchase, milk, eggs and other perishables which we do not provide through our food pantry. The food pantry needs small cans of meat, tuna and fruit with the pop-top lids to serve the homeless population. Your continued generosity is greatly appreciated.
