Fourth Sunday, Ordinary Time

Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

Catholic Schools' Week is a time to promote our school. I am proud of the atmosphere of caring and faith that creates such a strong sense of community involving students, staff, principal and teachers. Through the Board of Regents, PTO, and the accreditation process, our school has taken new steps to foster the highest standards. It is a school enriched by the diverse blessings of a multi-cultural and harmonious composition. Though a scholarship program, assistance is available to make our school available to families of modest means. Join us at our Open House.

This Sunday evening at 7 PM Rabbi Leila Berner with Rabbis for Human Rights will join Marisa Vertrees and myself in a Conversation on "The Tragedy of Darfur; Faith Responses to Genocide" Come and participate.

On March 4 (changed from Sunday, February 3) at 7 PM as part of the Conversation with Creedon Series I will share on the topic; "Haiti Revisited; Reflections on my recent Trip". I especially invite our Haiti Committee, sponsors of children in our sister parishes and all of you to join me.

Feel the Spirit!
Rev. Gerry Creedon

Marriage & Money
Setting Up Your Financial Household
February 11, 2007 from 7:15 - 8:45 PM, Benedict Hall

Presented by Richard (Dick) Nelson
For Engaged, Newlywed, and Married Couples

In 2000, the US Bishops commissioned research to name the common challenges to newly married couples. The title of their final report was "Time, Sex, and Money: The First Five Years." Knowing that financial issues can cause great strain on a marriage, it only makes sense that helping to equip couples with effective financial tools is the way to go. In this hands-on workshop, couples will learn together some tools of the trade like…

  • 3 Commandments of Marriage and Money
  • 5 Keys to Keeping the "Moneymoon" Alive
  • Debt Do's and Don'ts
  • Budget Guidelines
  • Retirement Savings & More

February 11, 2007 from 7:15 - 8:45 PM, Benedict Hall

A St. Charles parishioner since1995, Dick provides financial counseling and a range of family financial services to clients in metropolitan Washington, DC. At the end of the workshop, Dick will provide additional information to couples who would like to take the next step toward financial independence, but there is no expectation for a couple to do so. Dick provides such workshops as a way of giving back to his faith community and supporting married couples and families.

Sponsored by the St. Charles Marriage Ministry
