PREPARING TO SAY GOOD BYE TO FR. CHARLES
Fr. Charles Ukwe, OP will be heading back to Nigeria at the end of December
to teach at a seminary there.
We will be celebrating Fr. Charles in a special way on the weekend
of December 16 and 17. On Saturday evening, December 16 from 6:30-7:30pm,
all are invited to the gym to the celebrate with Fr. Charles and the
children of the parish as they reenact the "Posada" as Mary
and Joseph search for a place to rest. A reception to honor Fr. Charles
will follow at 7:30pm. Sunday, Dec 17 we will honor Fr. Charles after
all of the Sunday Masses. All are welcome to any and all events!
Folks are already asking what they can give Fr. Charles as a way to
say "thank you". Bottom line
cash or check (made out
to Fr. Charles or St. Charles) is always a winner.
ADVENT EVENING PRAYER
Mark your calendars now to come and relax for an hour a week.
Tuesdays December 5, 12, and 19
7:30-8:30pm in the Chapel.
Music, silence, prayer
Come and rest
"Let us all our hearts prepare for Christ to come and enter there"
GIVING TREE
Now is the time to take a tag or two or more from our Christmas Giving
Tree in the Church beginning Nov 26. Feel free to grab tags for friends
& colleagues too! During Advent, we remember those less fortunate
and connect with those in need. The gifts you buy help the homeless,
immigrants and families in crisis who are unable to give their families
some of the joy of Christmas. Please attach the tag and return (wrapped
or unwrapped) gifts to the Church and place them under the Tree or at
the Parish Office no later than Dec 16th. Gifts will be distributed
on Dec 17th. Cash & check donations payable to "St. Charles
Church" need to be marked for the Giving Tree and left at the Parish
Office. All donations are tax deductible. Call Maria for receipt. To
volunteer or questions, call Maria McAhron at 703-628-6251, mail mariamcahron@yahoo.com.
THANK YOU!
COMPUTERS FOR FR. CHARLES
Are you upgrading your desktop or laptop computer before the end of
the year? Fr. Charles will be teaching in a seminary in Nigeria and
they could use used computers if they are Pentium II & Higher CPUs.
Drop off your computers to the Parish Office with a note attached as
to how we can reach you if we have any questions. Thanks!
CONVERSATIONS WITH CREEDON
Sunday, Dec 3, 7pm Benedict Hall

Maryknoll Sisters AIDS Task Force
will lead a discussion on how we can all work to combat AIDS and assist
those suffering
Refreshments provided. All are welcome.
WORLD AIDS DAY-EDUCATION AND EVENTS
On Sunday, December 3rd the Ministry will be selling hand knit scarves
to support the Riara AIDS Project after the 9:00 and 11:00 masses. Come
quickly to get your scarf - supplies are limited and they will make
great gifts!
HAITI
Each year, our Haiti godparents have a chance to write Christmas cards
to send to their students in Cavaillon and Gros Marin. This year, we're
also giving all members of the parish the chance to purchase Christmas
cards that will benefit the Haiti committee and our sister parishes.
We will be set up for this on Sunday, December 3rd, after the 7:30,
9:00 and 11:00 masses. You can also drop cards off at the rectory in
the Haiti box. Thank you!
USED VEHICLE NEEDED
Although we usually don't handle used vehicle, we have an unusual and
urgent need. A mother of five is in desperate need of a vehicle that
she can use to transport herself and her young children. One of them
has special needs and often has scheduled doctors' visits. If anyone
is in a position to donate a van to her (or help otherwise), please
contact Jo-Ann Duggan, Social Services Coordinator here at St. Charles.
Thank you so much.
