PREPARING TO SAY GOOD-BYE TO FR. CHARLES
Fr. Charles Ukwe, OP will be heading back to Nigeria at the end of December
to teach at a seminary there. His dissertation was accepted and he will
be defending it in Rome in late November. Please keep him in your prayers.
We will be celebrating Fr. Charles in a special way on the weekend
of December 16 and 17. On Saturday evening, December 16 from 6:30-7:30pm,
all are invited to the gym to the celebrate with Fr. Charles and the
children of the parish as they reenact the "Posada" as Mary
and Joseph search for a place to rest. A reception to honor Fr. Charles
will follow at 7:30pm. Sunday, Dec 17 we will honor Fr. Charles after
all of the Sunday Masses. All are welcome to any and all events!
Folks are already asking what they can give Fr. Charles as a way to
say "thank you". Bottom line
cash or check (made out
to Fr. Charles or St. Charles) is always a winner.
COMPUTERS FOR FR. CHARLES
Are you upgrading your desktop or laptop computer and/or printer before
the end of the year? Fr. Charles will be teaching in a seminary in Nigeria
and they could use used computers (Pentium II & Higher CPUs) as
well as printers. Drop off to the Parish Office with a note attached
as to how we can reach you if we have any questions. Thanks!
PARISH WEBSITE TRAFFIC INCREASED 6% IN OCT
Last month our parish website, www.StCharlesChurch.org, averaged 475
visits per day, with the parish calendar
as the most viewed section. Other top pages included the home
page, house blessing,
celebrant's schedule, news
and the C'YA calendar--pretty much unchanged in
popularity from September. Respect
Life climbed a couple of spots among ministries to grab fourth place
behind perennial favorites C'YA/young adults, RCIA
and Education, helped in part
by an active listserv you can join to
receive announcements. In October, 84 percent of visitors reached our
site through bookmarks or by directly typing in the URL, 14 percent
came from search engines and 2 percent from links on other sites.
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS THANKSGIVING
It's that time of the year and the St. Charles Community is gearing
up for Thanksgiving. Thanks to Fran Hobbs and her wonderful group of
volunteers, 25 families will receive completely cooked Thanksgiving
Dinners. Please see October 29th, bulletin insert to see how you can
help with this project. Meanwhile, the Food Pantry is in need of Thanksgiving
food to help out other families in our area. Please bring in canned
sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn, gravy, stuffing, and other NON-PERISHABLE
FOOD items. We are always overwhelmed with the generosity of the St.
Charles community and thank you for all you do to help those in need.
