Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This past Sunday we held a highly provocative conversation on faith and persons with disabilities. The need for dignity, inclusion, and respect were emphasized. We welcome the challenge to become more sensitive and accessible as a community. I am delighted to announce the inception of religious education for children with special needs.
The showing of "An Inconvenient Truth" was another call to responsibility for our environment. St Charles takes the step of recycling at our Parish Center. On a personal level you are encouraged to walk to church and add a carbon-dioxide free pilgrimage to your Sabbath.
Peace, Gerry Creedon

YOUTH/FAMILIES TO BAKE COOKIES FOR KARIOS
The Stand True youth, respecting all life, will be collecting cookies for the residents of Fluvana Correctional Center for Women to participate in a retreat program that brings them the love & mercy of God, the grace of forgiveness & some sense of personal worth. Jesus loves us all & encourages us to visit the imprisoned. This is a small way of doing exactly this. Our cookies are a message of hope, love & caring for those imprisoned & can make a profound difference. Please no raisins/dried-fruit/coconut/toppings/

No icing/candy as required by prison rules. You can use chocolate & butterscotch chips. Cookies should be 2 to 2 ½ inches in size. Please place each dozen in 1-quart zip-lock bag, label with cookie type and drop at the St. Charles Parish Office by 3pm on Sunday, Oct 8. Please contact Twila Gavin with any questions at (703)350-4566 or gavinfamily@comcast.net.
