Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Let us celebrate Labor Day with a renewed commitment to justice in
the workplace for all, especially the immigrant and the service employee.
Statements on Labor from the US bishops' conference and from our diocese
are available on the Website. Resources on local labor issues are available
in Benedict Hall this weekend.
This weekend we rededicate ourselves to the work of Religious Education.
Be sure to register. New catechists are always needed. We are especially
requesting help to develop catechesis for children and youth with special
needs. You may reach Anne Marie Kaufmann, our RE coordinator, at 703-527
5500 x119.
On Sunday, September 10 at 7:15pm, the Conversation with Creedon Series
will feature Pamela Kirk Rappaport, a parish member who teaches theology
at St John's University NY. We will focus the presentation on "Liberation
Theology; What Can We Learn From the Church in Latin America?"
"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain"

SMALL FAITH GROUPS FORMING FOR FALL
We are now beginning to form small faith groups that will meet in the
Fall. Most groups will meet for approximately 6 weeks. Most groups are
6-10 folks. Depending on interest, groups may be formed to reflect on:
--Sunday Scripture readings from Mass
--Spirituality and Work
--Spirituality of Marriage
--Newlywed faith sharing group
--Raising Faith Filled Kids
--Spirituality and Aging
--Bible Study
--Exploring the new USA Catholic Catechism for Adults (pub July 2006)
Our next step is to secure:
Facilitators: Basically, the leader of the group. Not the teacher or
the expert, just someone to help with communication and keep the group
on track each week. All materials are provided and no experience is
necessary. You can choose to meet in your home, at the parish, or in
another parishioner's home.
Hosts: Are you willing to open your home to a group but would rather
not lead the group? What a beautiful gift of hospitality.
Group Members: Are you interested in joining a group? Let us know. All
are welcome.
If you are interested please contact Michelle Miller, Director of Adult
Faith Formation at adultfaith @ stcharleschurch.org or call
her at the Parish Office at 703-527-5500 x115.
