Reflection on today's Gospel:
In these eight verses, Jesus refers to "life" and "living" nine times. So the eating of His Flesh and the drinking of His Blood is not a divinely-punched ticket and that's all there is to that. The faith which moves us to eat and drink of this tremendous surprise, is to be lived in the washing of our hands, the doing of our homework, and all the other experiences of life through which Jesus moves. This is the Wisdom come down from heaven. This is the faith which frees us to see more than we are looking at, both in the liturgy of the Eucharist and the liturgy of our lives.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION---HELP NEEDED
We are in need of catechists and assistant catechists to share Jesus' teaching with children in our parish on Sunday mornings during the 2006-07 school year. In particular, we hope to open a class to serve children with special needs this year. If you have a background in special education or experience working with special needs populations, please consider volunteering in this very important new ministry in our parish. Contact akaufmann@stcharleschurch.org. 703-527-5500 x119.

RELIGIOUS ED & YOUTH MINISTRY REGISTRATION
Registration for 2006-2007 is now open for all children and youth ages 3 through high school for religious education and youth ministry programs. Forms are available at the Parish and on-line at www.stcharleschurch/ministry/education.htm. Questions? Contact Anne Marie 703-527-5500, akaufmann@stcharleschurch.org.

SMALL FAITH GROUPS FORMING FOR FALL
Over 120 parishioners participated in 6-week small faith groups during Lent. We are now beginning to form small faiths groups that will meet in the Fall. Most groups will meet for approximately 6 weeks. Most groups are 6-10 folks. Depending on interest, groups may be formed to reflect on:
--Sunday Scripture readings from Mass
--Spirituality and Work
--Spirituality of Marriage
--Newlywed faith sharing group
--Raising Faith Filled Kids
--Spirituality and Aging
--Bible Study
Our next step is to secure:
Facilitators: Basically, the leader of the group. Not the teacher or the expert, just someone to help with communication and keep the group on track each week. All materials are provided and no experience is necessary. You can choose to meet in your home, at the parish, or in another parishioner's home.

Hosts: Are you willing to open your home to a group but would rather not lead the group? What a beautiful gift of hospitality.

Group Members: Are you interested in joining a group? Let us know. All are welcome.

If you are interested please contact Michelle Miller, Director of Adult Faith Formation at at adultfaith@stcharleschurch.org or call her at the parish at 703-527-5500 x115.

FOOD PANTRY
The Pantry needs the following items: canned vegetables, canned chunky soups, fruit, canned tuna, canned pasta such as ravioli, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, muffin/pancake mix, breakfast bars, cereal, small individual size packs of cookies crackers and fruit. We do need smaller sized packaging, 1-pound cans or 16-ounce boxes…economy sized are too big to pack effectively. We also need plain wholesome food, no condiments, spices or exotic tastes needed. In addition, the Food Pantry at St. Charles needs a steady supply of paper grocery bags with handles, such as those from Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter, or Whole Foods Market. Thanks for your continued and overwhelming generosity.
