Sixth Sunday of Easter
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
At a time when our government leaders consider immigration policy,
I'd like to share some thoughts from church leaders.
"We are called to work so that every person's dignity is respected,
the immigrant welcomed as brother or sister, and all humanity forms
a united family which knows how to appreciate with discernment the different
cultures which comprise it." Pope John Paul II
"The so-called 'illegals' are so not because they wish to defy
the law; but because the law does not provide them with any channel
to regularize their status in our country-which needs their labor; they
are not breaking the law, the law is breaking them. " Bishop Thomas
Wenski, Orlando and USCCB
"We need a strong and clear immigration policy. It must serve
our country's security and prosperity and at the and at the same time
be based on the moral values on which all our lives must ultimately
rest. We must never forget the Gospel call of Jesus 'to welcome the
stranger' for in the face of this stranger, we see the face of Christ."
Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of Washington
On Sunday June 4 at 7pm, as we celebrate Pentecost, I will host my
monthly Conversations with Creedon with stories from those who have
recently joined the Church as adults. Come, hear their stories, and
share your own.
Peace,
Gerry Creedon

PROJECT LAZARUS
Project Lazarus is the name given to St. Charles' special fund to help
people with emergency needs. Through this fund, St. Charles offers assistance
to local residents. Most often, people need help paying rent, utility
and medical expenses. Please consider making a special donation to Project
Lazarus. Your help is greatly appreciated. Checks should be made payable
to St. Charles Church and designated for Project Lazarus.
The Project Lazarus Food Pantry is also in need of your help. Your
generosity in the past has enabled us to help many in need. Presently,
any non-perishable item you could give would be most appreciated. Donations
can be left at the Parish Office. THANK YOU!
Pregnant and need help? Assistance is just a telephone call away. Please
contact Gabriel Project Arlington at 1-866-444-3553 any time for a friend
who can point you toward the best assistance.
