Third Sunday of Lent
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Each week in the lobby by Benedict Hall we intend to provide information
on a particular ministry of the parish that promotes understanding,
participation and volunteer involvement. This weekend we offer a focus
on the Sponsor Couples' Ministry here at the parish. Our sponsor couples
accompany our engaged couples in their marriage preparation. Resources
and support are made available by our coordinating couple John and Margie
Barba. Please stop by the display table.
I invite you to join me in a presentation on March 22 at 7:30 pm at
Blessed Sacrament Parish in Alexandria on Pope Benedict's recent encyclical
on love, charity, and justice. I also encourage you to attend a diocesan
conference on the Death Penalty at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More
on Saturday 25th, 9am-12:30 pm.
May Patrick and Joseph bless you,
Gerry Creedon

WEB POLL RESULTS SHOW
EXTRA MASSES MORE POPULAR THAN GIVING UP A FAVORITE FOOD OR DRINK
We kicked off Lent on the parish website, www.stcharleschurch.org, with
what turned out to be one of the most popular surveys we've ever offered.
More than 200 voted on what they planned to do for Lent. First place
was getting ashes on Ash Wednesday (picked by 85% of participants),
followed by going to Mass more often (55%), just ahead of giving up
a favorite food or drink (50%). Visit the site and making this your
best Lent ever.
