Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
Over 90 individuals have signed up to join a small faith-sharing group
during Lent, most meeting in homes. This is great news.
This weekend we pledge to the Bishop's
Diocesan Lenten Appeal. We are hoping that many more parishioners
will join in this annual event. Its purpose is to promote the outreach
of our diocese through education, service and mission programs. Last
week I reported on our Diocesan Mission in the Dominican Republic. Every
5 years they need to replace their jeeps because of the rough terrain.
Locally, Catholic Charities reaches out to children through housing,
adoption, foster care and other services in one of the most professional
and longest serving pro-life programs in the region. These are only
some of the programs our diocese supports. Please add your pledge to
the 11% of our parish who traditionally carry the burden of these services.
May the upcoming season of Lent be characterized by the spirit of prayer,
education, fasting and giving.
Peace,
Gerry Creedon
