Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
As we plan for the season of Lent we are called to enter into the season
of sacrifice and giving.
We plan on joining the Rice Bowl program: eat a lesser meal and give
the savings to Catholic Relief Services with a quarter in reserve for
our Africa Aids Project. We hope to send highschoolers to school so
that they can have a chance at a better and healthier life style, 400
dollars a year for each student in Kenya.
We also plan to participate more adequately in the Annual Bishop's
Lenten Appeal. Currently 11% of our parishioners pledge. We would like
to raise that percentage.
I just got back from Banica in the Dominican Republic. They are in
urgent need of a new Jeep to continue their work in the Lomas, a mountainous
district on the Haitian border where wear and tear on vehicles is severe.
This is only one example of the needs met through this appeal.
Peace,
Gerry Creedon

THANK YOU!
Thank you to all the good people of St. Charles who have so kindly taken
the time to shop and donate items for our Food Pantry. It is our goal
to keep the Pantry well stocked throughout the year in order to meet
the needs of the less fortunate in our area. No donation is too large
or too small. If you have not seen our Food Pantry Shopping List, a
copy can be found in the Bulletin from time to time and on the St. Charles
web site. Thank you again for your generous donations.
HOPE
"Hope in Northern Virginia, a pregnancy aid organization located
in Falls Church, is looking for caring and dedicated volunteers to work
with pregnant women facing problem pregnancies. Our Spring Training
Program begins on March 6, 2006. Please consider offering your time
to assist pregnant women in this critical ministry; many different volunteer
opportunities are available. Call 703-536-2020 for additional information,
to request an application or to make an appointment to stop by the office
to visit with us."
ANOTHER PLACE FOR DONATIONS
Thank you all for your generous donations! St. Charles is short on space
and can not accept furniture or clothing donations. Please take these
items to the Arlington Goodwill, 10 South Glebe Road, intersection of
50 and Glebe, and bring us your donation receipt. The receipt is then
turned into vouchers for OAR (Offender
Aid and Restoration of Arlington County) clients. This way we can
all work together for the poor. Thank you.
