Epiphany of the Lord
FROM THE PASTOR
Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
I look forward to a New Year of continued growth for St. Charles and
for each of our households.
Last year we asked for your New Year's
hopes for the Parish. We based many of our plans on those expressed
wishes. For example, you asked for more adult education and formation
and we hired Michelle Miller as our new Adult Formation Director and
Coordinator of Ministries.
This year we are asking the leaders of all our ministries and programs
to review their goals and to suggest two or three overall parish goals
for the year 2006.
Our Parish Council has initiated a new effort to provide representatives
for each of the Mass Communities to foster community and ministry, especially
utilizing the facilities of Benedict Hall. I hope these and other enhancements
of our life will continue to advance our mission.
Thanks for you support and generosity during the past year, especially
at Christmas. Happy Epiphany. Like the Magi let us never tire of offering
our gifts,
Jan 8: Epiphany of the Lord
Readings: Is 60:1-6, Eph 3:2-3a, 5-6, Mt 2:1-12
Today we celebrate that Jesus came for us all. The Magi can be seen
as representing peoples and cultures from all over the world. Imagine
leaders from far away to come and adore a poor child born in a barn.
The have followed a star that God used to reveal to them. In your own
life, how has God chosen to reveal Himself to you? As we begin 2006,
let us be open to the quiet ways that God speaks to us and let us come
bringing gifts of open and outpoured hearts.
