Nativity of the Lord

FROM THE PASTOR
Christmas celebrates the gift of Jesus. God's love comes to us in a homeless child. His message becomes our Good News.
From the beginning the shepherds, the angels and the wise men responded to the gift of incarnate love offering gifts.

St. Charles too offers our gifts of worship and service.

We also offer our treasure.

The Giving Tree symbolizes our community's generosity: over 4,000 dollars, thousands of presents, 20 bikes, 100 sleeping bags and many shoe boxes of toiletries were shared with at least 1,000 children of needy families in our area.

I thank all of you for your support to Jesus' mission all year long and especially as we honor his birth,

Peace, and Joy
Rev. Gerry Creedon

LET US MAKE ROOM IN THE PEW
During this busy Advent and Christmas season, please remember to extend your generosity to your fellow parishioners and any guests by sharing the Christmas pew. With some Masses being standing room only, let us "regulars" make our guests feel welcome and consider offering our seats, not saving them. Thank you for being helpful!

Baptismal instruction in English will be offered on Wednesday January 11th, 2006 at 7:30 PM in Room 103 of the Parish Center. Please call the Parish Office at 703-527-5500 to register.

CATHOLIC ADVOCACY DAY AT THE VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLE
On January 30 Catholics from throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia will participate in a legislative advocacy day in Richmond. This event will be under the direction of Bishops Loverde and Dilorenzo in conjunction with our Virginia Catholic Conference, which is directed by Jeff Caruso. All Catholics-clergy, pastoral leaders, educators, men, women and youth-are encouraged to join Bishop Loverde in Richmond. The program begins at St. Peter's Catholic Church on East Grace Street at 9:00 am. The Arlington Diocese Peace and Justice Commission chartered a bus for the event. On Monday, January 30, the bus will leave the Cathedral of St. Tomas More parking lot at 6:30 am and will return around 4:00 pm. There is limited space on the bus and reservations are required. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. To reserve a seat, contact Celestine Person Green at 703-824-0022 or butterfly85@verizon.net. See www.vacatholic.org for further information and details.
