Please come and participate in this day of spiritual reflection. This
year's theme is "Mary, Woman of the Eucharist, Lead Us to Jesus!"
Bishop Loverde will lead the pilgrimage in a Eucharistic procession
and the recitation of the Rosary which will be multi-lingual. You will
have the opportunity to go to confession as well as visit the various
chapels throughout the Shrine. This spiritual day will culminate with

PLEASE PRAY FOR
Please remember to keep in your prayers, those who are sick and those
who suffer, especially: Celia Coronado, Margaret Finocchiaro, William
Frederick, Dorothy Corkery, Gabriela Sotelo, baby Maxwell Julius, John
Colwill, Jeff Craddock, Cissy Denoyer, Eleanor Caudell, Alicia Pohl,
Bernard Pohl. Let us also pray for those who have died especially, Raul
Bustillo.
PROJECT LAZARUS FOOD PANTRY
Please remember needy families in our community when you are shopping
for your family. Our food pantry shelves need replenishing ASAP! Please
bring non-perishable items to the Parish Office or drop them off in
the boxes in the church entryway. We especially need tuna fish, spaghetti
sauce, peanut butter, jelly, powdered milk, cereal, canned pasta (e.g.,
Chef Boyardee) and canned fruit. On behalf of the families and individuals
who depend on us, many thanks for your donations.
FAITH FORMATION
In hard times all you may have are "five loaves and a couple of
fish" or the awareness that you don't have enough to take care
of whatever the problem is. And imagine that Jesus says, as he does
in today's gospel, you can take care of this yourself with what you
have. Read the gospel again (Mathew 14:13-21). What happens when Jesus
gets us to gather, sits down to receive and blesses our meager, broken
offerings? What could this say for our way of being in prayer and in
community?
We Pray
For those in the military or the support forces overseas,
may the peace of God's presence and our concern for them give them strength,
and may they return in safety.
RESPECT LIFE
We will meet Wednesday August 3, 2005 at 7:30 PM in the Memorial Room
(7:00 PM for prayer). We are always looking for new members; contact
Grace Sims at 703-528-5522.
SUSAN M. TORRES FUND: On May 6th, Susan Torres, a 26-year old
parishioner of St. Rita's in Alexandria, collapsed of a brain hemorrhage.
She was rushed to the Virginia Hospital Center, where she has been diagnosed
with stage four melanoma and with no hope of recovery. Doctors are fighting
to keep her alive to give her unborn baby a chance at life. Please keep
Susan, her husband Jason, and her 2 yr. old son, Peter, in your prayers.
Friends of the Torres family have established the Susan M. Torres Fund
to help defray the enormous medical bills that his family face. To make
a tax-deductible donation to the Susan M. Torres Fund, send a check

an active registered parishioner for a minimum of three (3) months!

IN OUR PARISH
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!
Are you a retired Accountant or Bookkeeper looking for something to
do Monday mornings? The Parish Office needs you! With the wonderful
increase in attendance to our Sunday Masses, we find that our collections
have also wonderfully increased. We are in need of additional volunteers
to help count the collection on Monday mornings. If your are able to
help, please contact Mary Ann Aker at 703-524-5635.
"FROM OUR COUNTERS
"
St. Charles is extremely blessed by the generosity of our parishioners
evident every week in the collection baskets. There is no special equipment
used to count all the contributions received - just the dedicated volunteers
who donate their time on Sunday and Monday to unfold, sort, count, and
tally. You can assist these volunteers though, as well as the Parish
Manager and Accountant, by following a few "helpful hints."
Try not to Fold (unfolding bills and checks, whether in an envelope
or not, can take more time than the actual counting). Try to Mark (marking
all collection envelopes with the amount enclosed is a real time saver.
It also ensures that the correct amount will be credited to your account).
Also, remember to note on any envelope if your contribution is meant
for something other than the collection in which it was received. This
is the only way to ensure that your donation is separated correctly.
And finally, please, No Tape (it makes opening the envelope very difficult).
MANY THANKS FOR HELPING OUR COLLECTION HELPERS!
