Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
On November first, I celebrated All Saints with the children. Our
School 6th graders gave a remarkable testimony to the heroes of our
faith. I offered them a suggestion I would like to offer ALL our children
and youth. I notice how my nieces and nephews love to decorate their
rooms with the image of their heroes; sports figures (like the Red Sox),
rock stars, singers etc. Why not include an image of your favorite saint
even a little one
on your bedroom wall?
Today, Sunday November 7 at 7:00 PM, I host a Conversation
on Faith; "How to revitalize faith through scripture and small
group sharing?" Kelly Moon, a young adult leader will be my guest.
I especially invite Gathering, bible study and neighborhood groups to
this important discussion.
My Alma Mater, All Hallows, Dublin will provide an exciting seminar
on November 13 in Benedict Hall on "Footsteps of God in the Poetry
of Ireland" Call the Parish Office for a reservation,
Saints be Praised!

MISSING FROM THE PARISH OFFICE
The Parish Office is missing two items. One is an 8½" x
11" paper-bound book entitled. "Faith Sharing for Small Communities."
The second item is a white binder containing "Diocesan Publications"
software and documentation. Both items were "removed" from
the Front Desk. We would greatly appreciate their return.
PLEASE READ: Please turn off your cellphones and beepers when
you come to Mass. Perhaps you can leave them on silent instead of ringing.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"To make such intrinsically evil actions [to perform or procure
an abortion] legal is itself wrong. This is the point most recently
highlighted in official Catholic teaching. The legal system as such
can be said to cooperate in evil when it fails to protect the lives
of those who have no protection except the law." -- USCCB's "Catholics
in Political Life."
Pregnant and need help? Assistance is just a telephone call away. Please
contact Gabriel Project Arlington at 1-866-444-3553 any time for a friend
who can point you toward the best assistance.

RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE & BORROMEO HOUSING
Borromeo Housing, along with the Respect Life Committee, is launching
a bassinet project to be an ongoing ministry for the women/children
of Borromeo Housing, much like the parish food pantry project. We would
greatly appreciate your support in this wonderful BHI outreach ministry
by placing any of the following items in the bassinet located at the
back of the Church. BHI note that these are the items that they need
the most: first-aid supplies, soap, children's cold medicines/tylenol,
baby wipes, diapers (2,4,5) and pull-ups (4T/5T), baby lotion, children's
vitamins, feminine care products, socks for women/children, mashed potatoes,
pasta, pasta sauce, pasta dishes, rice (flavored), applesauce, fruit
cups, box drinks, rice cake, pudding cups, cake mixes, peanut butter,
relish, honey, honey mustard dressing, oil, BBQ sauce, taco mix, cocoa,
tea bags. Also gift cards for Safeway & Giant are very useful. Thank
you very much for your support and generosity to this important ministry.
PARISH POLL RESULTS ON GIVING MONEY TO THE HOMELESS
We made one of Fr.
Creedon homilies that appear on the parish website, www.StCharlesChurch.org,
more interactive by asking online visitors whether they gave money when
asked by a homeless person. Almost 42% of respondents replied "sometimes,"
35% said "no," 12% answered "frequently" and about
another 12% give food or a non-cash item instead. Visit us this week
to try another faith-related poll, to read a Fr. Creedon homily you
may have missed or to see pictures
from Oktoberfest. And if you're interested in feeding the hungry,
leave your non-perishable food in baskets at the Church entrances for
the St. Charles pantry.
