Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This weekend we are reminded in a letter
from Bishop Loverde to exercise faithful citizenship by our participation
in the upcoming elections. I have added to the website an excellent
presentation on the topic "Faithful
Citizenship" presented by Dr. Steve Colecchi, Director of Department
of Justice and Peace for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
I make my own this idea from Bishop Loverde, "As we examine the
positions of candidates on numerous issues in the presidential and other
election contests, we must allow our consciences to be guided my fundamental
principles."
Next Sunday, November 7 at 7:00 PM, I invite you to a "Conversation
with Creedon" with guest Kelly Moon on the topic "Revitalizing
faith through scripture and small groups." I urge all Gathering,
Faith and Worship and other study groups to join us.
With peace and justice for all!

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"To make such intrinsically evil actions [to perform or procure
an abortion] legal is itself wrong. This is the point most recently
highlighted in official Catholic teaching. The legal system as such
can be said to cooperate in evil when it fails to protect the lives
of those who have no protection except the law." -- USCCB's "Catholics
in Political Life."
