Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
This weekend we focus on stewardship.
This biblical concept calls us to see our time, our talent and our
possessions as gifts from God. We are tenant farmers. The farm belongs
to God. All of creation is intended for the use of the entire human
family.
Our parish through the Ministries Fair, is happy to have our volunteer
pool replenished. Your time is a valuable gift. Our Staff and Parish
Council pledge their support. Our Parish Finance Committee renders an
account of our stewardship this weekend. Your financial support through
the Sunday Offertory, your participation in our Building Fund and faithful
redemption of our Pledging Program all provide the "Juice"
we need to promote our parish's many ministries and maintain our facilities.
In addition, our Tithing Program broadens the scope of our parish's
reach to many social needs on the local and global level. An example
is the upcoming tithe on October 16 and 17. This tithe of our regular
offertory will go the relief efforts in Gonaives, Haiti where thousands
were drowned by the latest hurricane and to Gros Marin a Sister Parish
where 50 people lost their homes. Thank you for continuing, of joining,
the generosity that is the hallmark of this great Parish!
THE CUPBOARD IS BARE
The parish pantry desperately needs replenishing, for the poor are always
with us. Please be generous. Items such as cereal, peanut butter, pasta,
pasta sauce, rice (in 1 or 2 pound bags), canned vegetables and fruits,
and canned meat and fish, are always in short supply. Items not requiring
kitchen facilities, for homeless patrons, are also requested. Leave
your contributions in the containers at the entrances to the church.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
"We are now witnessing the gradual restructuring of American
culture according to ideals of utility, productivity and cost-effectiveness.
It is a culture where moral questions are submerged by a river of goods
and services and where the misuse of marketing and public relations
subverts public life." --

Your parish website, StCharlesChurch.org, keeps you connected to
your parish throughout the week-in English and Spanish. The Web
Team is looking for a few more volunteers who know at least a little
Spanish and HTML coding to help with the San
Carlos section of the site. The commitment is a few hours a month.
The benefits include the satisfaction of seeing our Spanish content
continue to expand and participating in the leading edge of online evangelization.
Sample activities include converting the translated bulletin document
