Dear St. Charles Parishioners,
On the First Sunday of October at 7:00 PM, I will hold a Conversation
on the Aids Crisis in Africa. While Iraq and Darfur receive the
attention, this issue daily claims the lives of thousands. As a parish
with a concern for global solidarity, we need to consider ways we may
increase awareness of and involvement with this tragedy.
Brain Francis, a parishioner who headed up our Haiti
Committee, and visited Haiti despite the challenge his multiple
sclerosis presented, died at an early age last week. The parish will
honor him by accepting donations for a project at our sister parish.
You may donate for that purpose by indicating "Francis memorial"
on the check.
Let us remember the witness of those who have gone before us through
our defense of life.
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION
Baptismal instruction in English will be offered on Tuesday, October
19, at 7:00 PM in the Parish Library. To register, please call the Parish

FEAST OF "EL SEÑOR DE LOS MILAGROS" (OUR LORD OF
MIRACLES)
Please join our Latin American Community in the celebration of the Peruvian

SEPARATED? DIVORCED? WIDOWED?
A very helpful diocesan-wide program for the Separated, Divorced and
Widowed begins on Sunday evening, October 17, 2004 from 6-8 PM at St.
Phillips Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA. Coping is a 6-week program
for men and women still dealing with the trauma of separation, divorce

The Philippine Medical Mission congratulates all the winners of our

Ministry and neighborhood volunteers are invited to stop by the Parish
Community Center Manager's Office (located near the parking lot entrance
to the Parish Community Center) anytime after the morning Masses on
Sunday, September 26 (also the day of the parish's annual Ministries
Fair) to learn about St. Charles' new online
calendar and room reservation request system. Members of the parish's
Scheduling Task Force will be available to offer an orientation and
