Bulletin for Sept. 26 , 2004

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

from the pastor... Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

On the First Sunday of October at 7:00 PM, I will hold a Conversation on the Aids Crisis in Africa. While Iraq and Darfur receive the attention, this issue daily claims the lives of thousands. As a parish with a concern for global solidarity, we need to consider ways we may increase awareness of and involvement with this tragedy.

Brain Francis, a parishioner who headed up our Haiti Committee, and visited Haiti despite the challenge his multiple sclerosis presented, died at an early age last week. The parish will honor him by accepting donations for a project at our sister parish. You may donate for that purpose by indicating "Francis memorial" on the check.

Let us remember the witness of those who have gone before us through our defense of life.

Rev. Gerry Creedon

IN OUR PARISH

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY!
Ministry and neighborhood volunteers are invited to stop by the Parish Community Center Manager's Office (located near the parking lot entrance to the Parish Community Center) anytime after the morning Masses on Sunday, September 26 (also the day of the parish's annual Ministries Fair) to learn about St. Charles' new online calendar and room reservation request system. Members of the parish's Scheduling Task Force will be available to offer an orientation and demonstration. We hope to see you there!

FIVE FUN FEATURES ON THE PARISH WEBSITE
Fall is here so it's time for back to school, back to work and back to your parish website, StCharlesChurch.org. Visit us online so you can:

  1. Check out the new online calendar where you can sign up to receive notifications of changes to your favorite events.
  2. Prepare for retirement with our checklist from the Circle of Caring.
  3. Join the e-prayer tree to receive occasional email requests to pray for parishioners in need.
  4. Carry your parish with you through the PDA-formatted version of the site for your handheld device.
  5. Learn the ABCs of NFP (natural family planning)

Whatever you decide to do, get online and in the Spirit this autumn. The leaves are starting to change and perhaps Christ is ready to work a change in you.
