Dear St. Charles Parishioners,

In this week's pastor desk I would like to highlight three things:

  1. Our first ever Peace and Justice Conference on the theme of Faithful Citizenship (I Chair the Peace and Justice Commission) will be offered at St. Charles on September 18, followed by a seminar on affordable Housing sponsored by Alliance for Housing Solutions.
  2. Conversations with Creedon series, Topic "Vatican and Women," a discussion of recent declaration with Julie Bentz, RCIA Team member. September 12, at 7:00 PM.
  3. "Scripture Sharing with Fr. Gerry Creedon" on Saturday mornings beginning September 4, at 8:00 AM in the Chapel.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION

COME AWAY FOR A RETREAT DAY
On Tuesday, September 28, 9:30AM-3:00 PM Fr. Patrick McMahon, O. Carm., will be directing a Day of Recollection on the Spirituality of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus (Little Flower) and Teresa of Avila. These women represent two different and very strong spiritualities in the Carmelite tradition. Fr. McMahon is a professor of spirituality at the Washington Theological Union. COMPUTER TECHONOLOGY MINISTRY
This ministry of St. Anthony of Pauda Catholic Church is now accepting class registrations for September through May or June, 2005. Classes in Introduction to the PC and Windows, Word Excel, Power Point, Access and the Internet will be offered. The classes meet two times a week from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Corpus Christi School at 3301 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA, 22041. Registration fee is $50.00 for the entire program plus $45.00 for the textbook. To register, Call St. Anthony of Padua Parish Office. Space Limited. At 703-820-7111. ST.CHARLES SCHOOL NEWS
It is that time of year again when I beg for your help to make Catholic education possible for my special children. The need is great, and your contribution will make a big difference. FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2004-05
"St. CHARLES SCHOOL" participates in the USDA SPECIAL MILK PROGRAM. Low cost milk will be available to all children enrolled at St. Charles. Rules for acceptance and participation in the SPECIAL MILK PROGRAM and all activities are the same for all without regard to race, color, sex, age, disability or national origin. Any person who believe he or she has been discriminated against in any USDA related activity should write to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, DC 20250.

"WELCOME RETURNING/INACTIVE CATHOLICS"
If you are a Catholic who has been away from the Church, we invite you to be an active part of us again. "Landings" is an eight week discussion series, a safe landing place for returning Catholics to explore their faith and future with the Catholic Church. SINGERS NEEDED FOR THE INTERFAITH ENSEMBLE
The St. Charles Interfaith Ensemble will be rehearsing this Thursday, September 2, at 7:00 PM in the gym. We'll be preparing music for a Jewish High Holiday event, scheduled for September 5.
